Client
The financial service provider MLP manages assets totaling over €57 billion for more than 580,000 private clients and 27,400 company clients with a workforce of 2,300 employees.
Starting Situation
SAP CRM and OpenText serve as the core systems at MLP for customer support and the management of several million contracts. The discontinuation of the SAP CRM solution required MLP to migrate to the cloud-based CRM solution SAP HybrisCloud for Customer (SAP C4C). This migration’s goal is to build all CRM specific functions and interfaces in SAP C4C, as well as document specific functions and interfaces in OpenText xECM and SAP Solutions. Additionally, xECM should become integrated with SAP C4C.
Solution
Doctra took responsibility for the ECM-component, and with it, the challenging task of restructuring essential parts of the highly customized CRM system, decoupling it from SAP C4C, migrating it to the cloud, and managing the collaboration between MLP and the software manufacturer OpenText.
Result
It only took Doctra 12 months to successfully finalize the complex cloud migration. Throughout the entire project duration the system remained continuously available, which was indispensable for MLP employees, and the strict compliance requirements were consistently met.

Starting Situation
MLP is a long-standing SAP customer. In addition over 2,000 consultants use SAP CRM daily to manage over 600,000 business partners. To manage the electronic customer records, OpenText was closely integrated with the CRM solution. The volume is worthy of attention: At peak times, up to one million documents of all types are introduced into the digital archive each week. Numerous adjustments to the two core systems allow highly efficient business processes and the automated integrated of third-party systems.
When SAP CRM was discontinued in 2021, MLP had the migration to the cloud-based CRM solution SAP C4C on its agenda. At the beginning of the project, it became clear that the heterogeneous and individually customized IT landscape threatened to jeopardize the schedule. Migration to the cloud also required structuring of the system landscape, the development of new interfaces and design of customization made over the years. MLP understood that a smooth collaboration together among all involved companies was indispensable for a successful cloud migration. The challenge: Finding an experienced service provider who is proficient in both SAP and OpenText, in order to execute the complex project from a holistic perspective and efficiently manage the collaboration with the manufacturers and other service providers.
Solution
MLP entrusted Doctra with the responsibility of ensuring a successful cloud migration within the given timeframe. The consulting firm specializes in OpenText solutions within the SAP environment and is among the few companies with both extensive experience in the field.
The challenging task involves much more than simply migration. Also required was an analysis of the existing IT landscape and conceptual recommendation derived from it for the future architecture of the cloud solution. As the responsible party for the ECM component, Doctra was the primary point of contact for MLP.
"Even in turbulent times, Doctra was a reliable partner, that did not look for someone to blame, but for solutions and always found them.“
Stefan Wenigmann - Head of the IT Asset- und Budgetmanagement department at MLP Finanzberatung SE
Collaboration
Which processes get displayed in the ERP-software SAP S4/HANA? Which processes in the CRM-software SAP C4C? How will OpenText be integrated in both solutions? Where and how will the third-party system be integrated? What adjustments need to be made?
In the first step Doctra created proposals for unbundling the evolved system landscape, which were then implemented as components of a project. The consultants were able to draw on their experience in the enterprise environment and identify potential pitfalls early through the mutual dependencies between SAP C4C and OpenText.
A key to success proved to be the open collaborative communication among all parties involved. From the start it was clear to Doctra that the complex challenge of restructuring and migration could only be solved collaboratively. Another advantage: As a certified partner, Doctra is highly regarded by OpenText and SAP, which provided the consultants with direct access to the manufacturers. Throughout the entire project, Doctra reported directly to MLP’s IT management, allowing issues to be discussed on equal terms and decisions to be made quickly.
Result
Doctra successfully completed the complex cloud migration from the on-premises SAP CRM installation to SAP C4C within 12 months, in collaboration with MLP, SAP and OpenText.
